The Western Cape Animal Health Forum CPD was held on the 4th of October 2017 at the AGRI OVERBERG, Koringaar in Caledon.
The event was fully supported by the RPO and the colleagues from the Western Cape Department of Veterinary Services.
The Western Cape AHF Members held a formal meeting before the CPD event commenced. At the meeting the following issues were addressed:
- Constitution in place
- Committee in place
- Veterinary Strategy
- Disease reports
- Provincial issues
- Brucellosis as model
- Farm animals/Game Interface
- Vaccine availability
- Identification of animals
- Movement of animals
- Welfare issues
The chairman of the WCAHF Mr Nico Uys started out by welcoming the members to the event whereby the Chairman of the NAHF Dr Pieter Vervoort informed the Western Cape AHF of the on goings within the NAHF:
The Acting Director of Animal Health for the Western Cape Department of Veterinary Services Dr Michael Swart informed the members of the Animal Health matters within the province.
Dr Louis Maartens from Deltamune Laboratory informed the members on matters regarding Lumpy Skin Disease.
Dr Baltus Erasmus from Deltamune Laboratory informed the members on the testing of Bluetongue and African Horse Sickness.
Dr Sewellyn Davey informed the members on Ovine Johne’s Disease and Bovine Brucellosis.
The Day was closed off by the chairman of the WC AHF Mr Nico Uys and refreshments were served.
