Increased risk of Rift Valley fever (RVF) in the Southern African region

Cumulative rainfall anomalies remain steady at 100mm to 300mm above normal in the FS region and 10mm to 100mm in the KZN region.

 

Over the last week both regions received between 2mm to 50mm with more rainfall in eastern areas of FS region and in the western areas of the KZN region.

 

Current cumulative seasonal rainfall trajectories from the vector surveillance sites (black) are well above the 2021/2022 season (blue)  in the FS region and hovering along the 2021/2022 season trajectory in the KZN region.

 

Over the next seven days, the entire FS region is expected to receive between 2mm to 50mm of rainfall while in the entire KZN region is expected to receive between 25mm to 75m
